Abstract
Ovaj diplomski rad sastoji se od pet prijevoda s komentarima. Dijelovi triju knjiga bili su prevedeni s engleskog na hrvatski (Caroline Eden: Red Sands: Reportage and Recipes Through Central Asia from Hinterland to Heartland, Perry Nodelman: The Hidden Adult: Defining Children's Literature, Jeanette Winterson: 12 Bytes: How we got here where we might to next) te dva s hrvatskog na engleski (Nikolina Topić: Staklo u Dubrovačkoj Republici u svjetlu arheoloških nalaza, Roman Simić. Iva, do Mjeseca i natrag). Komentari se fokusiraju na poslovice, frazeme i kolokvijalizme koji su se ponajviše pojavljivali u Simićevom tekstu. Komentari istražuju različita moguća rješenja za njihovo prevođenje te parafrazu koja je nekad bila potrebna zbog manjka ekvivalenata u ciljanom jeziku.
Abstract (english)
This thesis comprises five translations with commentary. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (Caroline Eden: Red Sands: Reportage and Recipes Through Central Asia from Hinterland to Heartland, Perry Nodelman: The Hidden Adult: Defining Children's Literature, Jeanette Winterson: 12 Bytes: How we got here where we might to next) and two from Croatian into English (Nikolina Topić: Staklo u Dubrovačkoj Republici u svjetlu arheoloških nalaza, Roman Simić. Iva, do Mjeseca i natrag). The commentary is focused on proverbs, idioms and colloquialisms that appeared most of all in Simić’s text. It explores different possible translations of these units which in some cases had to be paraphrased due to a lack of equivalents in the target language.
