Abstract
Razvojem medicinske znanosti došlo se do spoznaje da individualne razlike u ekspresiji određenih molekulama među pacijentima s malignim bolestima istog organa uvelike utječu na prognozu bolesti. S ciljem individualizacije terapije, razvijen je cijeli niz bioloških lijekova koji se mogu kombinirati s drugim lijekovima ili zamijeniti druge protutumorske terapije i pridonijeti pozitivnom ishodu pacijenata. Budući da su biološki lijekovi usmjereni ka molekulama koje mogu biti izražene i u zdravim tkivima, uz biološku terapiju brojni su neželjeni događaji od kojih su izrazito važne kardiovaskularne nuspojave. Poznavanje tih nuspojava i strategija za njihovo smanjivanje ili otklanjanje osnova je za uspješnost biološke terapije i izbjegavanje prekidanja iste, a tako i vrijedan alat za poboljšanje kvalitete života i prognoze ishoda bolesti. Mnoge kardiovaskularne nuspojave su reverzibilne ako se rano detektiraju i liječe, te je zbog toga cjelovita strategija preventivnih i kurativnih metoda neophodna za optimalan ishod protutumorskog liječenja.
Abstract (english)
Medical scientific discoveries have paved the path for the new comprehension of the prognosis and outcome differences among the patients with the same tissue malignancies which express different molecules. In order to personalize the therapy and improve the outcomes, the scientific community has developed a number of biological (targeted) medications, used combined with other or instead of other anticancer therapies. Considering that the targeted molecules are sometimes present in healthy tissues, biological therapy is linked to numerous adverse effects, of which cardiotoxicity is of great importance. Acquiring knowledge and developing strategies in order to minimize or eliminate these adverse effects is fundamental for the efficacy of the biological therapy, making therapy interruption less common and thus improving the outcomes and life quality of patients. If detected and dealt with early on, most cardiotoxic effects are reversible, so the comprehensive strategy of preventive and curative methods is indispensable for the optimal result of anticancer treatment.
