Abstract Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje kvalitetu života osoba s tjelesnim invaliditetom kroz četiri ključne dimenzije: fizičko zdravlje, psihičko zdravlje, socijalni odnosi i okolina. Rad počinje definiranjem pojma kvalitete života i njegovih dimenzija, uzimajući u obzir subjektivne i objektivne pokazatelje.
Rad također posebno razmatra dvije specifične skupine osoba s tjelesnim invaliditetom: hrvatske ratne vojne invalide iz Domovinskog rata i žene s tjelesnim invaliditetom. Rad naglašava i važnost uloge socijalnog rada u pružanju podrške i zagovaranju prava osoba s invaliditetom, čime se izravno doprinosi poboljšanju njihovih životnih uvjeta.
Abstract (english) This paper explores the quality of life of people with physical disabilities through four key dimensions: physical health, psychological health, social relations, and the environment. The paper begins by defining the concept of quality of life and its dimensions, taking into account both subjective and objective indicators. It then defines and describes different domains of quality of life, starting with the domain of physical health, which is the foundation of daily functioning and is often limited in people with physical disabilities due to increased dependence on others, reduced mobility, and work capacity. The domain of psychological health is then described, focusing on the specific needs and challenges faced by people with physical disabilities. Social relations are another important dimension, where the need for adequate social support and overcoming discrimination that can hinder the integration of people with disabilities into the broader community is emphasized. The environment plays a crucial role in enabling or restricting the participation of people with disabilities in daily life, including the accessibility of physical spaces, the availability of quality medical and social care, and opportunities for education and recreation.
The paper also specifically considers two distinct groups of people with physical disabilities: Croatian war veterans from the Homeland War and women with physical disabilities. These groups face additional challenges due to their characteristics and societal position, which affects their specific needs and quality of life. The conclusion of the paper highlights the need for a holistic approach to improving the quality of life for people with physical disabilities, including efforts to remove the barriers they face, as well as the need to empower and invest resources to enhance their quality of life and ensure their inclusion in society. The thesis also emphasizes the important role of social work in providing support and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, which directly contributes to the improvement of their living conditions
