Abstract
Prema zoološkoj klasifikaciji školjkaši pripadaju u carstvo životinja (Animalia), razred školjkaša (Bivalvia) i koljenu mekušaca (Mollusca). Globalna raznolikost današnjih mekušaca procijenjena je između 70 000 i 76 000 opisanih vrsta; od čega je oko 44 000 morskih, oko 5 200 slatkovodnih i 25 000 kopnenih mekušaca. Karakteristični predstavnici slatkovodnih školjkaša je porodica Unionidae s velikim područjem rasprostranjenosti koju karakterizira raznolikost oblika i boje ljušture koje su uvjetovane područjem koje nastanjuju. Školjkaši porodice Unionidae su ključni elementi slatkovodnih staništa i odgovorni su za važne ekološke funkcije. Razumijevanje filogenetske raznolikosti ključno je za očuvanje prioriteta slatkovodnih školjkaša, koji su među najugroženijim slatkovodnim vrstama u svijetu. Ovaj rad predstavlja pregled literature koja se bavi molekularno – filogenetskim istraživanjima porodice Unionidae (Bivalvia), te su na temelju toga iznesene znanstveno najzanimljivije vrste kao i one vrste čije je filogenetsko mjesto još uvijek cilj istraživanja znanstvenika.
Abstract (english)
According to the zoological classification, shellfish belong to the animal kingdom (Animalia), the bivalve class (Bivalvia) and the mollusc kernel (Mollusca). The global diversity of today's molluscs is estimated between 70 000 and 76 000 species described; out of which about 44 000 marine, about 5 200 freshwater and 25 000 land mollusks. Characteristic representatives of freshwater bivalves are a family of Unionidae with a large area of distribution characterized by the variety of shapes and colors of the herb that are conditioned by the area they inhabit. Unionidae shells are key elements of freshwater habitats and are responsible for important ecological functions. Understanding the phylogenetic diversity is key to preserving the priorities of freshwater bivalve molluscs, which are among the most endangered freshwater species in the world. This paper presents an overview of literature dealing with molecular - phylogenetic researches of the family (Bivalvia), and based on this are presented the most interesting scientific species as well as those species whose phylogenetic site is still the target of research of scientists.
