During the period of May and June 2018, determination of the quantitative and qualitative composition of the macrozoobenthos of the Markuševec stream was carried out in order to determine the water quality of the stream by scoring method. Benthic organisms are reliable water quality indicators. On the field work a sample was analyzed and determined in the laboratory with the help of qualified literature. An analysis was used that included the estimation of the number of taxa per macrozoobenthos per unit of water surface. The method is based on the fact that living communities are a reflection of the characteristics or the quality of the water they live in. This method provides information on the wealth and distribution of particular species. The stream is rich in species of different characteristics and traits. The found species include ranks of Arthropodae, Annelidae, Molluscae. Changes in physical and chemical properties can be crucial for biomass and biodiversity benthos. Biological scoring method and determination of the collected samples determined the quality and quality of the water stream Markuševec. Classification of samples according to the biotic point index and organic contamination shows that the stream is largely contaminated.
