Ovim istraživanjem praćen je broj, količina i vrsta dopremljenih lešina u Agroproteinku d.d., najvećeg prerađivača životinjskih nusproizvoda u Hrvatskoj i jugoistočnoj Europi.
Abstract (english) The aim of this research was to describe the procedures, system and method of collection, removal and processing of animal by-products (ABP), their compliance with those in other EU countries, and to determine the number and quantity of carcasses disposed in the period from March 10th to April 10th 2019. This study monitored the number, quantity and type of carcasses brought to Agroproteinka d.d., the largest processor of animal by-products in Croatia and Southeast Europe. Complex legislation outlined in the most important points: categorization of ABP, collection of ABP, treatment of ABP after collection, creation of final products and their use. ABPs are whole bodies or body parts of animals, products of animal origin or other products derived from animals, not intended for human consumption, including egg cells, embryos and semen. Category 1 is the highest risk to public and animal health and category 3 is the lowest. It is strictly regulated what belongs to category 1 and what belongs to category 3, while all other ABPs belong to category 2. ABPs can be processed by standard or alternative processing methods. There are seven standard methods of processing ABP. After processing ABP of category 1 and 2 bone meal and technical fat are obtained, and from category 3 we obtain animal protein and animal fat. The process of disposal of by-products in Agroproteinka starts from the moment of its registration in the call or logistic center of Agroproteinka. Employees receive information on a by-product, such as mass, carcass type, etc. These data are entered into the program and serve the Agroproteinka logistics center whose employees distribute vehicles to collect materials of a certain category. 204 396 carcasses of various species were recorded throughout the monitoring. The largest number of carcasses was found to be hens / chickens with 172 000 pieces, while cattle were the most represented with 552 956 kg. The largest amount of carcasses comes from the Osijek-Baranja (284 068 kg), and the largest number of carcasses from the Varaždin County (56 103).
