Today's modern site requirements include a number of professional fields that deal with environmental issues correlated to the design, construction, implementation and management of residential and commercial landscape. With increase of care and need for environmental protection, this area is rapidly developing and expanding, and includes a number of questions, some of which are interrelated. The paper deals with the basic concepts and theoretical basis in order to determine the basic methods, techniques and principles of green building in landscape design and planning with a more detailed overview of the characteristics and their impact on the level of designing and planning in urban landscapes and discusses the basic and essential characteristics sustainable approaches to landscape design and sustainable methods that have been shown at various international examples and award-winning projects shaping the urban landscape.
