Financial statements are the last stage of the accounting process, and the result is financial statements, the most important of which are the balance sheet, profit and loss account, cash flow statement, statement of changes in capital and notes. Financial statements represent a very important source of information about the financial state of the company, therefore they should be prepared in a fair and truthful manner, based on adopted accounting policies, and in accordance with international standards. Accounting policies represent specific principles, rules and procedures that each company adopts for the compilation and presentation of financial statements. There is no single accounting policy, but the management of the company must choose those accounting policies that it believes will be the best for the fulfillment of the company's goals. Accounting policies have the most significant impact on the company's business results in the segment of the method of depreciation of fixed assets, in the area of inventories, provisions and revenue recognition. Choosing accounting policies in accordance with accounting standards enables regulated creativity of business results and financial position, i.e. acting in accordance with standards, and reduces the possibility of manipulations in reporting. The specificity of accounting policies is that each company applies its own accounting policies, provided that they comply with certain regulations. The company has the freedom to choose accounting policies, with the condition that it publishes them and additionally explains them in the notes. The aim of this paper is to show the impact of accounting policies on the company's business results, that is, to show how the selection of certain accounting policies affects the company's business results in the short and long term.
