In the last few years, cyberbullying has become a major social problem and it mainly affects the younger generations. The Internet represents a major threat for them since it offers a false feeling of security. What is more, children and adolescents browse websites and scroll through social networks without their parents monitoring them because they have become more media literate than their parents and parents are losing control. All that together has led to cyberbullying which is nowadays considered to be a new type of aggression and violonce. It stands for any usage of information or communication technologies with the intention of insulting or harming another person. The number of children who learn to use mobile phones and the Internet at an early age is increasing day by day, and so is the number of abused and cyberbullied children. They are receiving inconvenient and uncomfortable messages, they are exposed to inappropriate sexual content and can easily be approached by pedophiles and the biggest problem is that the bully can easily stay anonymous. Not only that the bullies are anonymous, but their number is also constantly growing since the Internet is widely available and that leads to a situation in which a child is being bullied by multiple people at the same time. What is more, the help for those children very often comes too late because most parents are convinced that something like that cannot happen to their child so they ignore all signs and behavioral changes. Also, children believe that their words are harmless and do not think about the consequences they leave so the bullied child is left alone. Therefore, parents should try to protect their children by controlling them but even more to educate them so that they can have a carefree childhood.
