| Abstract | Svrha ove doktorske disertacije je istražiti franšizni sektor u Hrvatskoj i svijetu s ciljem
stjecanja uvida u potencijal hrvatskih malih poduzeća za primjenu ovog načina rasta
poslovanju. Franšizing je vrlo zastupljen načina poslovanja u razvijenim zemljama i smatra se
inkubatorom održivog poduzetništva i zapošljavanja u kojem veliku ulogu imaju lokalni
poslovni koncepti koji franšiznim putem diseminiraju svoj uspjeh i internacionaliziraju svoje
poslovanje. Vrlo mali udio domaćih franšiza na hrvatskom tržištu, u odnosu na cjelokupni broj
prisutnih franšiza i u usporedbi s drugim zemljama te u odnosu na sve koristi koje franšizno
poslovanje može ponuditi, bili su poticaj za istraživanje u sklopu ove disertacije.
Originalni je doprinos znanosti u okviru ove disertacije u predstavljanju novih spoznaja u
istraživanju franšiznog potencijala u malim poduzećima u Hrvatskoj, kao i identifikaciji novih,
mogućih prepreka njegovu razvoju. Na osnovu rezultata istraživanja kreirane su preporuke za
bolji razvoj franšiznog ekosustava u Hrvatskoj. Te preporuke mogu pomoći u stvaranju
domaćih franšiza uz koje bi hrvatski poduzetnici povisili razinu konkurentnosti u regionalnom
i globalnom okruženju.
U Hrvatskoj je franšizni sektor poslovanja još nedovoljno istražen i postoji malo radova na tu
temu. Franšizno je poslovanje u svijetu jak zamašnjak razvoja poduzetništva i zapošljavanja,
što se manifestira, s jedne strane, kroz već etablirane poduzetnike, davatelje franšize, koji su
razvili uspješne poslovne koncepte, zatim svoj poslovni uspjeh „klonirali“ u zamjenu za
financijsku kompenzaciju u obliku ulazne franšizne pristojbe i kontinuirane naplate tantijema.
S druge strane su primatelji franšize gdje govorimo o pokretanju poduzetničkog pothvata i tu
franšizno poslovanje smanjuje rizik ulaska u novi poduzetnički pothvat s obzirom na veću šansu
za opstanak poslovanja koja proizlazi iz partnerskog odnosa s davateljem franšize, koji
osigurava ekspertizu, trening i stalnu pomoć tijekom poslovanja. To stvara specifičnu poslovnu
alijansu u kojoj se dvije pravno neovisne tvrtke trude oko uspjeha istoga poslovnog pothvata.
Pozitivna posljedica tog procesa je zapošljavanje, kako kod davatelja tako i kod primatelja
franšize, ali i diseminacija novih održivijih poduzetničkih pothvata.II
Brojke u svijetu potvrđuju činjenicu da franšizno poslovanje doprinosi razvoju poduzetništva,
kako u broju zaposlenih u tom sektoru, tako i u broju poduzeća koja su pokrenuta zahvaljujući
tome modelu širenja poslovanja. O snazi franšiznog sektora u Europi govori podatak da je
prema broju franšiznih brendova Europa zastupljena s više od polovice tog broja u svijetu,
unatoč uvriježenom mišljenju da su Sjedinjene Američke Države vodeće u ovome sektoru
poslovanja.
Iako se franšizno poslovanje u javnosti uglavnom povezuje s uvozom američkih i drugih stranih
poslovnih koncepata, za gospodarstvo zemlje u kojoj se razvija važan je udio nacionalnih
franšiza. U europskim je zemljama taj udio obično iznad polovice ukupnog broja franšiza na
nekom tržištu. Na osnovu istraživanja među članicama Svjetskog franšiznog vijeća, Hrvatska
je po udjelu lokalnih franšiza na zadnjemu mjestu u svijetu, a rast ponude istih uvelike bi
doprinijelo rastu broja poduzetničkih pothvata i njihovoj internacionalizaciji što bi bio veliki
doprinos i zapošljavanju.
S obzirom na navedeno ovo je istraživanje imalo za cilj dati odgovor na pitanje postoji li
potencijal hrvatskih malih poduzeća za usvajanje franšize kao poslovnog modela.
Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali da su od svih pretpostavljenih prepreka za razvoj domaćih
franšiza jedino potvrđeni pomanjkanje znanja o franšiznom poslovnome modelu i nepovjerenje
u pravni sustav, što je u skladu s rezultatima dosadašnjih istraživanja drugih autora u Hrvatskoj.
Ovo istraživanje daje i određenu longitudinalnu konstantu od 2006., kada je realizirano prvo
istraživanje, pa do 2017., kada je završeno ovo istraživanje. No, jedan dio istraživanja u sklopu
ove disertacije prvi je put rađen u Hrvatskoj. Odnosi se na franšizibilnost domaćih poslovnih
koncepata koja se u istraživanju potvrdila kao pozitivna. Također, dosad nije istraživan ugled
franšiznog sektora u Hrvatskoj, a rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da zapravo franšizni sektor u
Hrvatskoj nema izgrađen ugled, ne zato što bi isti bio loš, već zato što se o franšiznom
poslovanju premalo zna da bi se mogao stvoriti ugled ili loša reputacija.
Istraživanje prepoznavanja know-how i intelektualnog kapitala, za koje se pretpostavilo da ih
hrvatski poduzetnici ne prepoznaju u svojim poduzećima, na ispitanom uzorku od 113 malih
poduzeća pokazalo je da poduzetnici prepoznaju i ulažu u razvoj intelektualnog kapitala u
svojim poduzećima unatoč uvriježenom mišljenju stručnjaka kako je to slabost hrvatskih
poduzetnika.
Prema dobivenim rezultatima istraživanja može se zaključiti da mala poduzeća u Hrvatskoj
imaju potencijal za širenje stvarajući vlastitu franšizu, no u tome ih koči još uvijek nedovoljnoIII
znanje o ovome načinu širenja poslovanja te nepovjerenje u pravni sustav koje se manifestira
kroz njegovu sporost i neučinkovitost, ali i kroz nesigurnost zaštite know-how i poslovnih tajni,
a upravo je njihovo dijeljenje s primateljima franšize osnova franšiznog odnosa. |
| Abstract (english) | The scope of this doctoral dissertation is to explore both franchising in general and franchise
sector in Croatia, with the aim of gaining insight into the potential of the Croatian small
businesses to franchise. Franchising is a highly represented business expansion model in
developed countries and is considered an incubator of sustainable entrepreneurship and
employment. Local franchisors play a major role in expanding franchise success and
internationalising businesses. The very small share of domestic franchisors in the Croatian
market in relation to the total number of franchises present, and in comparison with other
countries, taking into consideration all the benefits of franchising, was an impetus for the
research at the origin of this dissertation.
The original contribution of this dissertation is to present new insights into franchise potential
of small businesses in Croatia, as well as to identify new, potential barriers to its development.
Based on the results of the conducted research, recommendations are given for better
development of the franchise ecosystem in Croatia. These recommendations can provide
valuable guidelines for the creation of domestic franchises, which would increase the
competitiveness of the Croatian entrepreneurs in the regional and global environment.
The franchise business sector in Croatia is still under-researched. The world franchise sector is
a strong flywheel of entrepreneurship and employment; one of the primary manifestations of
which is, on the one hand, the existence of already established entrepreneurs, franchisors, who
have developed successful business concepts, then cloned their business success in exchange
for financial compensation in the form of franchise fees and continuous royalties.
On the other hand, there are franchisees, individuals seeking to start an entrepreneurial venture;
in this framework franchising reduces the inherent risk of setting up a new business thanks to
greater chance of surviving, resulting from partnering with a franchisor who provides expertise,
training and ongoing business support. This creates a specific business alliance in which two
legally independent companies strive for the success of the business. The positive consequence
of this process is employment, both on the franchisor and franchisee side, as well as
dissemination of new, more sustainable entrepreneurial ventures.V
While it is true that the public perception of franchising primarily includes commonly associates
import of business concepts, the share of national franchisors in the domestic market is
important for the economy. In European countries, this share commonly amounts to more than
half of the total number of concepts in a market. According to a survey carried out among the
members of the World Franchise Council, Croatia takes last place in the world by the share of
local franchisors. Increasing their number would boost new entrepreneurial ventures and their
internationalization, which would be a significant contribution to employment.
Against this background, the aim of this research was to examine the potential of Croatian small
businesses to adopt franchising as a business model.
The results of the research showed that of all the assumed obstacles for the development of
domestic franchisors, only the lack of knowledge about the franchise business model and
distrust in the legal system were confirmed, which is in accordance with the results of other
researches in Croatia so far. Furthermore, this research provides a certain longitudinal constant
from 2006, when the first survey was completed, until 2017, when this research was carried
out. However, a part of the research in this dissertation had not yet been conducted in Croatia.
This refers to the franchiseability of domestic small enterprises, which has proven positive in
the research. In addition, the reputation of the franchise sector in Croatia had not been
researched earlier, and the results of the research show that, in fact, the franchise sector in
Croatia does not have a reputation; this, however, does not imply that its reputation is bad but
merely that the level of knowledge about franchising is too low to create any reputation.
A study on the recognition of the importance of know-how and intellectual capital, which was
assumed to be unrecognized by the Croatian entrepreneurs, showed, in a survey conducted in the
context of this dissertation and including 113 small businesses, that said entrepreneurs are, in fact,
aware of the significance of intellectual capital and invest in its development in their enterprises.
This result is contrary to the opinion of some experts according to which not understanding the
weight attached to intellectual capital is the weakness of the Croatian entrepreneurs.
According to the results of the research, conclusion can be drawn that small businesses in
Croatia have the potential of expanding by creating their own franchise, however, they are still
hampered by the lack of knowledge about this type of business expansion, as well as by the
lack of trust in the legal system, based on its slowness, inefficiency, uncertainty of protecting
know-how as well as protecting trade secrets sharing with franchisees, which is precisely the
basis of a franchise relationship. |
