The subject of research of the graduate thesis are economic and social indicators that are describing the difference between the European Union, elected members and candidate countries. After the introduction and methodology, the development and goals of the EU are defined as well as Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and the course of negotiations with the countries that are candidates. Policies run new opportunities and rules for enlargement of the EU to compete globally in size. The fundamental goals of the EU are democracy, fundamental rights and good neighborly relations. Economic indicators from GDP and inflation to unemployment and industry are described. Social indicators show the quality of life as well as happiness and basic social needs of every human being. Such and many other indicators are an indication of the level of development of each society both in Europe and also in the world. The EU with a number of resources and policies is trying to reduce economic disparities between developing and developed countries, in other words said , the members themselves and their candidates. After explaining the economic and social differences, a future period from 2021 to 2027 is described and it includes assistance to states due to Covid-19 and Brexit. The EU tries to improve the education and social inclusion of the population, increase the number of early jobs and reduce poverty. It also tries to bring Europe closer to its citizens in order to inform the public about current developments, increase turnout and improve relations between regions. The purpose of this written work is to investigate the causes of economic and social disparities between EU countries and candidate countries. Also, the range of funding that the new period of seven years brings requires a lot of work from members and candidates.
