The aim of this paper is to analyze the trends of mobile commerce through the definition of mobile commerce, its history and its current status. Also, its advantages and disadvantages as well as the role of users in mobile commerce are analyzed. Mobile commerce is a modern application of electronic commerce where customers use mobile or handheld wireless devices to communicate and perform transactions. This type of trade is becoming more and more popular today and is constantly developing with the advancement of technology and almost everyone, especially young people, own smartphones that enable them to do this type of trading. In addition to the theoretical background that serves for a better understanding of the topic, a survey was also conducted on 172 respondents aged 18 to 35, where the preferences of the young generation in Croatia are shown in more detail. The conducted research showed that about 60% of respondents spend more than 2 hours a day using mobile applications, and the most common type of mobile applications used by respondents are social networks. The most common motive for using mobile applications is saving time and the possibility of shopping 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. More than 70% of respondents said they shop either through a mobile web browser or through mobile apps at least once a year, implying that mobile commerce is on the rise. The obtained results are mostly in line with previous research, but it is evident that there has been technological progress and greater use of mobile commerce.
