Abstract
Temeljni su ciljevi ovog završnog rada objasniti odnos između inflacije i nezaposlenosti te na temelju provedenih empirijskih istraživanja utvrditi prisutnost Phillipsove krivulje u Republici Hrvatskoj. Phillipsova krivulja predstavlja inverzan odnos između nezaposlenosti i inflacije, a tijekom vremena doživjela je brojne modifikacije. Naime, krivulja izvornog oblika, koju je empirijskim putem uspostavio Alban Williams Phillips, (1958) evoluirala je do različitih modela u kratkom i dugom roku. Rezultati empirijskih istraživanja nisu konzistentni. Naime, dio znanstvenika pronalazi dokaze o validnosti te krivulje, a dio negira njezino postojanje. Kada je riječ o Hrvatskoj, testiranje prisustva Phillipsove krivulje koči oskudnost potrebnih podataka i informacija. Ipak, rezultati malobrojnih istraživanja provedenih početkom prošlog desetljeća u Hrvatskoj ukazuju da konsenzus oko njezinog prisustva također nije postignut.
Abstract (english)
The main purpose of this final paper is to explain the relation between inflation and unemployment and determine the presence and possibility of arranging the Phillips curve in the Republic of Croatia by usage of empirical research. The Phillips curve represents an inverted relation between unemployment and inflation. It has gone through many modifications throughout the years. As a matter of fact, the original form of the curve, which was empirically established by Alban Williams Phillips, has evolved into different models in both the short and long run. Some scientists have found evidence of the appearance of the Phillips curve, while others do not believe in its existence. When it comes to Croatia, the display of the Phillips curve is held back because of the lack of much-needed data and information. Because of this, unemployment and inflation have to be defined as separate concepts in this thesis. Their relations, for which the starter point will be the basis of the Phillips curve, need to be analysed. The subject of this thesis’ research is the same as their target.
