The growing popularity in the application of panel data analysis in empirical sciences can be attributed to the advantages it provides over commonly used methods of statistical analysis. Panel data contains more information, more variability and greater data efficiency. Panel data analysis enables control over unobserved variables, is able to assess the dynamics of change, and is favorable for constructing and testing more complex behavioral models in the social sciences. Empirical research on the impact of selected variables on the pesticide use is carried out using statistical and econometric methods. The research will be conduced on a sample of 27 European Union countries over the period from 2000 until 2019. Achieving sustainability of the agricultural system and environment imposed itself as an imperative for society to realize the possibility of further progress. The state of the environment is an inseparable factor of human development, and the continuous exploitation of environmental goods had its focus on the exploitation of agricultural potentials as well. In an attempt to intensify agriculture, with the aim of meeting raising needs of society, chemical produce have been developed to support the cultivation process. However, with the absence of rational usage and insufficient knowledge on the harmfulness of the application, disturbances in the balance of the ecosystem occurs. The research will cover the pesticide regulatory framework on European Union level, the complete process of regression model formulation and will examine the impact of selected indicators on pesticide use.
