Abstract | Ovaj rad se bavi istraživanjem veze između gospodarenja plastičnim otpadom i pametnih gradova, tj. nastoji se objasniti koliko je zapravo velika povezanost između ova dva pojma. Od samih početaka proizvodnje plastike do današnjice, njezina zastupljenost veća je no ikad. S time u vezi, plastika kao skupina organskih materijala, zauzima izuzetno važnu ulogu u kružnoj ekonomiji. Upravo iz tog razloga, danas više no ikad, potrebna je edukacija o zbrinjavanju plastičnog otpada, kako bi se isti sveo na minimum. Brojna poduzeća diljem svijeta u svoje poslovanje su provela digitaliziran način poslovanja koji uvelike doprinosi učinkovitom gospodarenju plastičnog otpada. Isto kao što je tehnologija sveprisutna u reduciranju plastičnog otpada, sastavna je značajka pojma pametnih gradova. Naročito u današnje vrijeme, gradovi se sve više okreću ka brzorastućoj tehnologiji koja je više no ikad prisutna u svim sferama ljudskog života. Sukladno tome, korištenjem tehnologije nastoji se olakšati ljudski život, kako bi i svakodnevne situacije, ali i situacije koje se rjeđe zbivaju bile pojednostavljene u svojoj izvedbi. Konceptom pametnih gradova želi se osigurati kvaliteta građana u određenom gradu, a isto se postiže pristupima koji se baziraju na lokalnoj stvarnosti i uvažavanjem potreba zajednice. Iako Hrvatska svake godine može izdvojiti sve više gradova koji svojim građanima žele omogućiti kvalitetniji život, Hrvatska i dalje treba nastojati usmjeravati napore gradskih uprava gradova u smjeru digitalizacije. Unatoč dosadašnjem velikom uspjehu mnogih hrvatskih gradova, Hrvatska i dalje veoma zaostaje kad je uspoređena s ostalim svjetskim državama. Hipoteza na kojoj se temelji ovaj diplomski rad je: Učinkovito gospodarenje plastičnim otpadom u pametnim gradovima, kroz sistematizirane procese sakupljanja i obrade plastičnog otpada, značajno doprinosi smanjenju sveukupnog onečišćenja otpadom kao i poboljšanju kvalitete života građana. Nadalje, ovim radom se nastoji istražiti značaj kojeg gospodarenje plastičnim otpadom ima u okviru koncepta pametnog grada, a to ujedno predstavlja i predmet istraživanja. S druge strane, problem istraživanja u ovome radu odnosi se na stalni rast gospodarstva koji dovodi ka povećanju otpada, a time i rastu društvenih potreba za učinkovitim zbrinjavanjem istog. Kroz analizu stručne literature i provedenog anketnog upitnika za Grad Dubrovnik koji je prvi zadobio naslov 'Plastic Smart City', zaključeno je nekoliko važnih stvari. Daljnji razvoj gospodarenja plastičnim otpadom i pametni gradovi imaju značajan utjecaj na poboljšanje kvalitete života građana. Nastavljajući dosadašnjom primjenom, ali uvođenjem i inovativnijih rješenja, gradovi mogu stvoriti, ponajprije zdravije, ali i ugodnije životno okruženje svojim građanima. Osim općenitog zadovoljstva građana, građani Grada Dubrovnika također primjećuju i poboljšanu kvalitetu čistoće grada kao i čistoće zraka. Navedene stavke uvelike podižu razinu življenja u Gradu Dubrovniku kao i dugoročnu održivost toga grada. Težnja prema pametnim gradovima i pravilnom zbrinjavanju plastičnog otpada presudna je u stvaranju dugoročno održive planete za sve ljude. Neke od stavki na kojima treba Grad Dubrovnik poraditi kad se radi o gospodarenju plastičnog otpada su: uvođenje većeg broja inovativnih rješenja za zbrinjavanje plastičnog otpada, veće uključivanje građana u inicijative povezane za gospodarenje plastičnim otpadom te povećanje transparentnosti o provedenim inicijativama. |
Abstract (english) | This paper deals with the research of the connection between plastic waste management and smart cities, it tries to explain how big the connection between these two concepts really is. From the very beginnings of plastic production to today, its presence is greater than ever. In this regard, plastic as a group of organic materials plays an extremely important role in the circular economy. For this very reason, today more than ever, education is needed on the disposal of plastic waste, in order to reduce it to a minimum. Numerous companies around the world have implemented a digitalized way of doing business in their operations, which greatly contributes to the efficient management of plastic waste. Just as technology is ubiquitous in reducing plastic waste, it is an integral feature of the concept of smart cities. Especially nowadays, cities are increasingly turning to fast-growing technology that is more than ever present in all spheres of human life. Accordingly, the use of technology is used to make human life easier, so that everyday situations, as well as situations that happen less often, are simplified in their execution. The concept of smart cities aims to ensure the quality of citizens in a certain city, and the same is achieved by approaches based on local reality and by respecting the needs of the community. Although Croatia can single out more and more cities every year that want to provide their citizens with a better quality of life, Croatia should still strive to direct the efforts of city administrations in the direction of digitization. Despite the great success of many Croatian cities, Croatia still lags far behind when compared to other countries in the world. The hypothesis on which this thesis is based is: Efficient management of plastic waste in smart cities, through systematized processes of collection and processing of plastic waste, significantly contributes to the reduction of overall waste pollution as well as to the
improvement of the quality of life of citizens. Furthermore, this paper tries to investigate the importance of plastic waste management within the concept of a smart city, and this is also the subject of the research. On the other hand, the research problem in this work refers to the constant growth of the economy, which leads to an increase in waste, and thus to the growth of social needs for its efficient disposal. Through the analysis of professional literature and the conducted survey questionnaire for the City of Dubrovnik, which was the first to receive the title 'Plastic Smart City', several important things were concluded. Further development of plastic waste management and smart cities have a significant impact on improving the quality of life of citizens. By continuing with the current application, but also by introducing more innovative solutions, cities can create, above all, a healthier, but also a more pleasant living environment for their citizens. In addition to the general satisfaction of the citizens, the citizens of the City of Dubrovnik also notice the improved quality of the cleanliness of the city as well as the cleanliness of the air. The mentioned items greatly raise the standard of living in the City of Dubrovnik as well as the long-term sustainability of that city. The pursuit of smart cities and proper disposal of plastic waste is crucial in creating a long-term sustainable planet for all people. Some of the items that the City of Dubrovnik needs to work on when it comes to plastic waste management are: introducing more innovative solutions for plastic waste disposal, greater involvement of citizens in initiatives related to plastic waste management, and increasing transparency about implemented initiatives. |
