Abstract
U zemljama u kojima se kapital ulaže, inozemna izravna ulaganja predstavljaju pokretač gospodarskog razvoja budući da ista donose prvenstveno kapital, a zatim i novu tehnologiju i znanja, te se putem njih otvaraju nova radna mjesta i nova tržišta. Iz tog razloga zemlje nastoje privući inozemna izravna ulaganja baš u njihovu zemlju. Kako bi se odabrala zemlja gdje će se kapital uložiti, veoma je bitna sigurnost investicije, odnosno sigurnost zemlje u koju se ulaže. One zemlje koje su izložene terorističkim aktivnostima ne predstavljaju privlačno područje za inozemna izravna ulaganja budući da investitori teže tome da ulažu u sigurnija područja, te da se iz nesigurnih povuku. U radu se istraživalo kako terorizam utječe na inozemna izravna ulaganja u Europskoj uniji, te je potvrđeno kako terorizam na navedena ulaganja utječe negativno. Navedenim rezultatima je potvrđena temeljna hipoteza koja je glasila: terorizam negativno utječe na priljev inozemnih izravnih ulaganja u Europskoj uniji. Kako bi se teroristički napadi smanjili, zemlje sve više ulažu u prevenciju takvih napada i u antiterorističku sigurnost. Europska unija može, unaprijed osmišljenom sigurnosnom politikom smanjiti negativne posljedice terorizma na inozemna izravna ulaganja.
Abstract (english)
In the countries where the capital is invested, foreign direct investment is the driver of economic development, since they bring primarily capital, new technology and knowledge and also new jobs and new markets are opened through them. For this reason, the country seeks to attract foreign direct investment to their country. In order to select the country where the capital will be invested, it is very important security of the country. Those countries that are exposed to terrorist activities do not represent an attractive area for foreign direct investment since investors are striving to invest in safer areas and to escape from unsafe withdrawals. This paper explored how terrorism affects foreign direct investment in the European Union, and it is confirmed that terrorism affects it negatively. The above-mentioned results confirmed the underlying hypothesis, which said: terrorism negatively affects the influx of foreign direct investment in the European Union. In order to reduce terrorist attacks, countries increasingly invest in the prevention of such attacks and anti-terrorist security. The European Union may, by means of pre-established security policy, reduce the negative effects of terrorism on foreign direct investment.
