Abstract
Razvitak pomorskog prometa, kao ekološki najprihvatljivijeg i najjeftinijeg načina prometa, ovisi isključivo o snažnim i efikasnim morskim lukama. Cilj ovog rada bio je prikazati povezanost između kretanja prometa robe i prometa putnika u morskim lukama Republike Hrvatske s ukupnim kretanjima u gospodarstvu. Uzimajući podatke o ukupnom prometu putnika i ukupnom prometu robe u morskim lukama, te podatke o razinama bruto domaćeg proizvoda Hrvatske, korelacijskom analizom se pokazalo kako između ukupnog prometa putnika u morskim lukama i bruto domaćeg proizvoda postoji jaka, pozitivna, statistički značajna veza. S druge strane, korelacijska analiza pokazala je kako je veza između ukupnog prometa robe u morskim lukama i bruto domaćeg proizvoda negativna, ali ne i statistički značajna. Ipak, ovakvi rezultati predmet su za razmišljanje, te bi trebalo uvažiti ranija istraživanja koja su pokazala kako su direktne koristi morskih luka s vremenom oslabljenje, te uz pomoć boljih statističkih metoda utvrditi utjecaj morskih luka na ekonomski rast. Navedeno se čini od velike važnosti ako se u obzir uzme činjenica kako su ulaganja u luke javne prirode.
Abstract (english)
The development of maritime transport, as ecologically the most affordable and cheapest way of transport, depends solely on strong and efficient sea ports. The aim of this paper was to demonstrate the correlation between the movement of goods and movement of passengers in the sea ports of the Republic of Croatia with total developments in the economy. By taking data on the total movement of passengers and the total movement of goods at sea ports, and data on the levels of gross domestic product of Croatia, the correlation analysis showed that between the total movement of passengers in sea ports and gross domestic product there is a strong, positive and statistically significant connection. On the other hand, correlation analysis has shown that the link between the total movement of goods in the seaports and gross domestic product is negative, but not statistically significant. However, such results are concerning, and it earlier surveys that have shown that the direct benefits of seaports are weakened over time, should be considered. Also, with the help of better statistical methods future researches should determine the impact of the sea ports on economic growth. This seems to be of great importance if the fact that investments in the ports are mostly public nature is taken into account.
