Abstract
Overturizam je relativno novi pojam korišten u relevantnoj literaturi, međutim sam po sebi fenomen nije nov s obzirom da su njegovi učinci na lokalno stanovništvo i okoliš proučavani u znanstvenim istraživanjima već desetljećima. Fenomen opisuje prekomjeran broj posjetitelja na određenom području što u konačnici rezultira pojavom negativnih utjecaja na okoliš destinacije, kao i na život lokalnog stanovništva. Budući da je turizam nadmašio sve dosadašnje rekorde, postaje sve izraženije negodovanje lokalnog stanovništva, stoga se u brojnim europskim gradovima javljaju razni pokreti otpora i protesti gdje ljudi javno pokazuju nezadovoljstvo protiv nastale situacije. Cilj ovog završnog rada je pokazati koji su to preduvjeti nastanka overturizma te čime rezultira snažna ekspanzija turizma u destinaciji. Također, za primjer su uzeti gradovi Barcelona i Venecija gdje se mogu vidjeti različiti upravljački pristupi koji se koriste unutar ovih odredišta kao odgovor na overturizam. Glavni rezultati istraživanja su pokazali da za prevladavanje ovog problema od iznimne važnosti predstavlja koordinacija svih dionika u destinaciji uključujući same mještane, kao i donositelje turističkih politika. Isto tako, može se zaključiti kako u literaturi nema puno primjera uspješnog oporavka destinacija, stoga se mnoga odredišta okreću politikama ublažavanja rasta te koriste razne strategije upravljanja tokovima posjetitelja. U budućnosti je potrebno raditi na poboljšanju komunikacije između posjetitelja i mještana jer bez njihove međusobne interakcije malo toga se može postići.
Abstract (english)
Overtourism is a relatively new term in the relevant literature, but the phenomenon itself is not a new one, as their effects on local communities and environment have been studied for decades. The phenomenon describes an excessive number of visitors in a certain area, which ultimately results in the appearance of negative impacts on the environment of the destination, as well as on the life of the local population. As tourism has surpassed all previous records, the discontent of the local population is becoming more pronounced, so in many European cities there are various resistance movements and protests where people publicly show disaffection with the situation. The aim of this final paper is to show what are the causes of overtourism and what results in a strong expansion of tourism in the destination. Also, Barcelona and Venice are taken as an example where one can see the different management approaches used within these destinations in response to overtourism. The main results of the research have shown that the coordination of all stakeholders in the destination, including the locals themselves, as well as tourism policy makers, is extremely important for overcoming this problem. Also, it can be concluded that there are not many examples of successful destination recovery in the literature, so many destinations turn to degrowth policies and use various visitor flow management strategies. In the future, it is necessary to work on improving communication between visitors and locals, because without their interaction, little can be achieved.
