In order to prevent job losses and the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, economic policy makers in the Republic of Croatia have launched a series of measures to help the economy. Despite the initiated economic policy measures, it can be assumed that the COVID-19 pandemic will still have a major negative impact on the level of economic activity and employment in the Republic of Croatia, which can also be defined as a problem of this final paper. The aim of the research on which the final paper is based is to determine whether and to what extent COVID-19 affected the economy and employment in the Republic of Croatia. The empirical part of this paper presents the results of a survey conducted with the help of a questionnaire. Almost 16% of respondents lost their jobs after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, and more than half of them failed to find work in the coming period, which indicates the fact that the current pandemic has made it very difficult to find work. Approximately 29% of respondents work indefinitely, which further increases the negative impact of the pandemic on employees, but also increases the uncertainty (constant doubt of employees whether they will lose their jobs in the near future). Less than a quarter of employees use some of the measures aimed at preserving jobs, but almost 50% of respondents believe that measures aimed at preserving jobs are not effective in reality and that there will be a sharp increase in the number of unemployed at the end of the tourist season. The results of the survey suggest that the policymakers should make an additional efort to modify and improve the efficiency of the existing polcy measures.
