Crowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular way of attracting funds for entrepreneurs to launch their ideas and projects. In Croatia, although still insufficiently known and rarely used, crowdfunding shows potential for the dynamic development of financing business projects. Its role in financing grows every year because it represents an alternative to traditional financing. One of the specific forms of crowdfunding, equity crowdfunding, allows a large group of individuals to invest in the early stages of a business in exchange for partial ownership of the company. Although equity crowdfunding in Croatia is still at an early stage of development, it has already become a common practice in European Union. Examples of successful Croatian equity crowdfunding campaigns are the companies Include, Orqa and Pivovara Medvedgrad, while at the European Union level prominent examples are Revolut, SonoMotors and Naturalbox. These examples show how equity crowdfunding can be a successfully used tool for financing innovative projects. This paper analyzes the current state and perspective of equity crowdfunding and indicates its importance as an alternative way of financing business ventures. Although it is a relatively new way of financing, the future of equity crowdfunding looks bright because it offers numerous opportunities for development because it enables creative and entrepreneurial initiatives to collect the necessary funds, but in a completely different way from the traditional one.
