Abstract
Turizam je jedna od najdinamičnijih djelatnosti hrvatskog gospodarstva i ima vrlo važnu ulogu u većini zemalja Europske unije. Europa je oduvijek bila vodeća turistička destinacija te je turizam zbog svoje ekonomske važnosti sastavni dio europske ekonomije. U radu su iznijete činjenice o važnosti turizma za Europsku uniju i Hrvatsku, razjašnjena turistička politika, njena obilježja te predstavljeni nedostaci i izazovi s kojima se suočava europski turizam kojima se Hrvatska ujedno i treba prilagoditi. Različite razvojne politike i ciljevi Europske unije podupiru se financijskim sredstvima iz europskih fondova. EU fondovi za turizam osiguravaju snažan razvoj te gospodarske grane, što ima pozitivan utjecaj na cjelokupno gospodarstvo. Iz pregleda fondova dostupnih za turizam i pozitivnih primjera prethodnog korištenja fondova, iznesen je uvid u mogućnosti koje fondovi Europske unije pružaju u podupiranju hrvatskog turističkog sektora i jačanju njegove konkurentnosti.
Abstract (english)
Tourism is one of the most dynamic activities of Croatian economy and has a very important role in most member countries of European union. Europe has always been a major tourist destination and due to its economic importance, tourism became an important part of the European economy. This thesis has identified the importance of tourism for the European Union and especially Croatia. Furthermore, it clarified the tourism policy, its characteristics and presented shortcomings and challenges faced by the European tourism to which Croatia needs to adapt. Various development policies and objectives of the European Union are supported by the financial resources from European funds. Main goal of EU funds for tourism is to ensure a strong economic sector and contribute to its development, which has a positive impact on the overall economy. The overview of the funds available for tourism and positive examples of previous projects presented an insight into the opportunities that EU funds provided to support Croatian tourism sector and strengthen its competitiveness .
