By fulfilling all the criteria, Croatia introduced the euro as the official currency in 2023. By joining the euro area, the country removes certain risks that can threaten and weaken its economy, but it also brings certain disadvantages. The subject of this graduate thesis is a more detailed presentation of the process of Croatia's entry into the euro area and a survey of citizens attitudes about the introduction of the euro in Croatia. The goals of the thesis are to systematize the advantages and disadvantages of countries' entry into the euro area, to present and critically assess the process of Croatia's entry into the euro area and to investigate and evaluate the attitudes of Croatian citizens regarding the introduction of the euro. For the purposes of the thesis, data was collected from primary and secondary sources. Primary data was collected through a survey on a sample of 250 citizens of the Republic of Croatia. Secondary sources include professional and scientific articles, official databases, professional and scientific books and other works in the field of monetary policy and macroeconomics. The methods used are methods of description, induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, generalization and comparison methods. The results of the research contribute to a better understanding of the process of Croatia's entry into the euro area. The contribution of the thesis comes from the results of a survey that indicated that Croatian citizens were not fully informed about the possible effects and strategy of the introduction of the euro. Citizens are quite divided about possible disadvantages and advantages, but the majority of participants support the introduction of the euro in Croatia.
