Banks are crucial for the importance of the financial system of the Republic of Croatia and economic development, as well as for the economic stability of the country. This final thesis describes the history of the Croatian banking system, the financial crisis, the structure of the banking system and the analysis of selected indicators of the banking system's operations. The final paper describes the history and development of Erste&Steiermärkische Bank, describes the products and technology of Erste Bank in Croatia, and analyzes the balance sheet, profit and loss account, and financial indicators of Erste Bank's operations. The subject of the final paper is based on banking and finance and describes the banking system of the Republic of Croatia, the operations of Erste banka as an example of a commercial bank and their products and services. Banking in the Republic of Croatia and its history are also defined; a detailed description of the laws of commercial banks, their role and the legal framework they must respect; a description of Erste Bank's services and products, as well as an analysis of Erste Bank's operations and financial reports. The aim of this final paper is to evaluate the success of the financial statements and the stability of Erste Bank's operations.
