Abstract Gospodarenje otpadom danas je potrebno provoditi tako da se prilikom procesa na bilo koji način ne ugrožava ljudsko zdravlje i očuvanje okoliša. Na području Republike Hrvatske gospodarenje otpadom je regulirano Zakonom o gospodarenju otpadom (2021) koji se odnosi na mjere koje je potrebno poduzeti kako bi se zaštitio okoliš te ljudsko zdravlje. Kada je Republika Hrvatska pristupila, odnosno postala članicom Europske unije, morala je svoje zakonodavstvo uskladiti s zakonodavstvom Europske unije, koje podrazumijeva politiku zaštite okoliša. Ovdje se radi o kvalitetnoj i unapređivanoj politici zaštite okoliša koja nastoji poboljšati stanje okoliša u zemlji članici Europske unije zajedno s zdravljem ljudi te raznim benefitima u poslovanju. Nova politika gospodarenja otpadom odnosi se na kružno gospodarstvo. Cilj modela kružnog gospodarstva temelji se na svođenju nastanka otpada na minimalnu mjeru. Kako bi se gospodarstvo otpadom RH prilagodilo kružnom modelu, potrebno je uvođenje promjena u učinkovitom upravljanju resursima, dizajnu proizvoda, novim poslovnim i tržišnim modelima, novim načinima pretvaranja otpada u resurse te novim modelima ponašanja potrošača. Današnji mladi čine ključnu ciljnu skupinu za intervenciju u neodrživim navikama prekomjerne potrošnje i za postavljanje puta i ideja o održivom načinu života. Predmet ovog diplomskog rada je utjecaj politike gospodarenja otpadom na kupovne preferencije mladih kao pokretača društvenih promjena. Cilj ovog rada je predstaviti koncepte politike gospodarenja otpadom, kao i čimbenike koji utječu na odabir mladih prilikom kupnje te istražiti njihov utjecaj na odluku mladih o kupnji. Stoga, u radu je provedeno anketno istraživanje s ispitanicima u dobi od 18 do 30 godina kako bi se saznao utjecaj nove politike gospodarenja otpadom na njihove kupovne preferencije. Istraživanje je pokazalo da dostupnost proizvoda koji su u skladu s održivom potrošnjom i kupovnim navikama ispitanika nije dostatna. No, isto tako, vidno je da ispitanici nisu spremni izdvojiti više novčanih sredstava za proizvod ili uslugu jer je u skladu s politikom gospodarenja
otpadom i održivom potrošnjom i ne odlaze radije u prodavaonice koje promoviraju „Zero waste“ koncept. Usprkos navedenim rezultatima, ispitanici su naveli kako su spremni na promjenu svojih potrošačkih navika radi uspostave resursno učinkovitog, klimatski neutralnog i funkcionalnog kružnog gospodarstva kako ga opisuju suvremene politike gospodarenja otpadom.
Abstract (english) Today, waste management needs to be carried out in such a way that human health and
environmental protection are not endangered during the process in any way. In the
territory of the Republic of Croatia, waste management is regulated by the Law on Waste
Management (2021), which refers to the measures that need to be taken to protect the
environment and human health. When the Republic of Croatia joined, that is, became a
member of the European Union, it had to harmonize its legislation with the legislation of
the European Union, which includes environmental protection policy. This is about a
high-quality and improved environmental protection policy that strives to improve the
state of the environment in a member state of the European Union along with people's
health and various benefits in business. The new waste management policy refers to the
circular economy. The goal of the circular economy model is based on reducing the
generation of waste to a minimum. In order for the Croatian waste economy to adapt to
the circular model, it is necessary to introduce changes in effective resource management,
product design, new business and market models, new ways of converting waste into
resources, and new models of consumer behavior. Today's youth constitute a key target
group for intervention in unsustainable habits of excessive consumption and for setting
the path and ideas of a sustainable lifestyle. The subject of this thesis is the impact of
waste management policy on the purchasing preferences of young people as a driver of
social change. The aim of this paper is to present the concepts of waste management
policy, as well as the factors that influence the choice of young people when purchasing,
and to investigate their influence on the decision of young people to purchase. Therefore,
the paper conducted a survey with respondents aged 18 to 30 in order to find out the
impact of the new waste management policy on their purchasing preferences. The
research showed that the availability of products that are in line with the sustainable
consumption and purchasing habits of the respondents is not sufficient. However, it is
also visible that the respondents are not ready to allocate more money for a product or
service because it is in line with the policy of waste management and sustainable
consumption, and they do not prefer to go to stores that promote the "Zero waste" concept.
Despite the mentioned results, the respondents stated that they are ready to change their
consumption habits in order to establish a resource-efficient, climate-neutral and
functional circular economy as described by contemporary waste management policies.
