Abstract
Considering that the problem of marine litter management policy in the Republic of Croatia is still in its early stages, this thesis aims to highlight this problem and its impact on the country's economic and social development, especially regarding tourism, sea transport, and aquacultural development. The thesis deals with marine litter management's economic, social, and environmental impact on local development in the Republic of Croatia. The primary methods for gathering and processing information included document analysis and an online survey to collect the main economic, social, and environmental impacts. Conclusions are developed using SWOT analysis. Since the initiatives to prevent the generation and reduce marine litter in Croatia began around a decade ago, it is crucial to continue monitoring developments in the Adriatic and inform the broader public about the need for marine litter management and prevention.

S obzirom da je problem politike upravljanja morskim otpadom u Republici Hrvatskoj još uvijek u ranoj fazi, ovim diplomskim radom želi se ukazati na ovaj problem i njegov utjecaj na gospodarski i društveni razvoj zemlje, posebice u pogledu turizma, pomorskog prometa i razvoja akvakulture. Diplomski rad bavi se ekonomskim, društvenim i okolišnim utjecajem upravljanja morskim otpadom na lokalni razvoj u Republici Hrvatskoj. Primarne metode za prikupljanje i obradu informacija uključivale su analizu dokumenata i online anketu za prikupljanje glavnih ekonomskih, društvenih i ekoloških učinaka. Zaključci se donose pomoću SWOT analize. Budući da su inicijative za sprječavanje stvaranja i smanjenje morskog otpada u Hrvatskoj počele prije desetak godina, ključno je nastaviti pratiti zbivanja u Jadranu i informirati širu javnost o potrebi upravljanja i prevencije morskog otpada.
