Employee job satisfaction represents an emotional, cognitive, and evaluative response to various aspects of the work environment and tasks, including subjective assessments of satisfaction, motivation, and well-being. Given that there is a small amount of research on the topic of job design in the Republic of Croatia, especially in the context of working from home and working in the office, an empirical study was conducted on a sample of 200 employees in order to investigate the connection between job design and job satisfaction in these two workplaces. environment. The results showed that motivational characteristics, such as creative problem solving, autonomy and using one's own initiative, were highly rated among the respondents, which indicates significant independence in performing tasks. Social characteristics, opportunities for interaction and support from colleagues were also positively evaluated, as well as contextual characteristics of the workplace. Job satisfaction is generally high, with an emphasis on support from superiors and opportunities for promotion. Regression analysis showed that motivational characteristics significantly influence job satisfaction, especially for office employees, while social characteristics have a strong influence on office employee satisfaction, but not for those who work from home. Contextual characteristics have a very strong influence on the satisfaction of employees who work from home, while this influence is somewhat smaller, but significant for employees in offices.
