Each period is determined by certain events, inventions, the advent of new technology, new insights that inevitably affect people, their behavior and thinking. Accordingly, it influences leadership, which involves leading individuals and influencing them to achieve a specific goal. It is up to the leaders to discover what drives and motivates individuals so they can successfully influence them. Accordingly, each generation can be joined by a certain generation of employees. The emergence of new generations of employees implies changes in behavior, employee attitudes, approach and leadership style. Generation Y and generation Z represent those new generations to lead. Each of them is specific in its characteristics, which are determined by the time in which the members of those generations were born, the circumstances in which they grew up, their habits, the presence of technology that was current during that period. The purpose of this paper is to reveal the specific characteristics of generation Z members that will serve as a guide for leaders in leading these employees. For the purpose of this thesis, an empirical study was conducted on the specificities of generation Z members and the results were compared with the responses of generation Y members in Croatia to find out what differences exist between them and what they mean for leaders and organizations, or what leaders should change to their leadership style and approach to subordinates and how they can adapt it to employees who are members of generation Z in Croatia.
