Abstract
The extremely rapid development of digital and telecommunication technology directly reflects both, people and businesses. The changes are so significant that we are talking about the information age in which contemporary economy acquires a new name: networking economy, cyber economy, digital economy, web economy, e-economy. According to William Gates, technology has changed the economy and the way of operating a business. In a traditional economy, the goals were narrow defined, the key resources were capital and human skills and the product was physically tangible. The research problem that arises in this paper is, to what extent the economy is changed and whether it is moving upwards? Did the increase in transactions over the Internet lead to an increase in consumption, and how did it affected individual industries?
