Abstract
Početak 2020. godine obilježila je pojava novog virusa koji se vrlo brzo pretvorio u veliki zdravstveni, ali i ekonomski problem. S ciljem da se spriječi njegovo brzo širenje, brojne su zemlje diljem svijeta bile primorane zatvoriti svoje granice te ograničiti kretanje kako stranim tako i svojim državljanima. Cijela situacija vrlo je brzo eskalirala, a novonastala pandemija pretvorila se u krizu velikih razmjera. Iako Covid-19 kriza nije birala, njezine destruktivne posljedice najviše su se odrazile na sektor turizma. Smanjena turistička potražnja, otkazi rezervacija i prazne sobe postali su novi izazovi upravitelja hotela koji su zahtijevali brze i kvalitetne odluke. Premda izlazak iz krize za hotele neće biti lagan, uspjeh u ovladavanju novonastalom i neizvjesnom situacijom imat će ona hotelska poduzeća koja će na vrijeme shvatiti važnost kriznog menadžmenta kao neizostavne funkcije uspješnih poduzeća. Cilj ovog rada je detaljnije istražiti i objasniti funkciju kriznog menadžmenta u poslovanju hotela za vrijeme Covid-19 pandemije te pobliže prikazati u kojoj je mjeri spomenuta funkcija pridonijela uspješnom ovladavanju novonastale situacije.
Abstract (english)
The beginning of 2020 was marked by the emergence of a new virus that quickly turned into a major health and economic problem. In order to prevent its rapid spread, many countries around the world were forced to close their borders and restrict the movement of both, foreigners and their own citizens. The whole situation escalated very quickly, and the emerging pandemic turned into a large-scale crisis. Although the Covid-19 crisis was overlooked in the beginning, it ended up having the greatest impact on the tourism industry in history. Reduced tourist demand, cancellations, and empty rooms have become new challenges for hotel managers who were forced to make quick and quality decisions. Although the way out of the crisis will not be easy, success in overcoming new and uncertain situations will be achieved by those hotels that will understand the importance of crisis management as an indispensable function of a successful company. The aim of this paper is to investigate and explain the function of crisis management in hotel operations during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to show the extent to which this function contributed to the successful management of the crisis.
