Abstract | The provision of all services to people will be difficult in the future due to resource restrictions. Smart cities must be developed in order to continue to serve and enhance the standard of life of the world's expanding population. The Smart City seeks to make the best and most sustainable use of all resources while maintaining a healthy balance of social, environmental, and economic consequences. The Smart City makes extensive use of ICT to enhance the administration, management, and supervision of a wide range of systems and services, with a focus on saving resources, water, land, and other environmental assets. A smart city is a location that has integrated the most recent 5G, Internet-of-Things (IoT), and AI technology, and where networks and services are more flexible, efficient, and sustainable through the use of information, digital, and telecommunication technologies to improve operations and provide an entirely new horizon of living and working environment for its inhabitants. The goal of this article is to review the existing state of knowledge on smart cities and to provide a proposed application of innovative information technologies. The first section of the article introduces and defines the concept of a smart city. This overview covers a variety of topics, including smart infrastructure and facilities, the use of information and communication technology, connectivity, feedback, and electronic and digital applications.
