Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je analizirati utjecaj COVID-19 krize na gospodarstva EU i SAD-a te procijeniti učinkovitost monetarne politike ECB-a i Feda tijekom trenutne COVID-19 krize. U radu se promatraju učinci pandemije na gospodarstva u okviru makrekonomskih i financijskih indikatora poput stope rasta BDP-a, nezaposlenosti, fiskalnog deficita, javnog duga te kretanja indeksa na dioničkim tržištima. U daljnjoj razradi se navode određene aktivnosti ECB-a i Feda u poticanju oporavka. Na temelju analize dostupnih podataka, zaključuje se da su ECB i Fed u kratkom roku ispravili tržišne nepravilnosti izazvane šokom pandemije i pomogli fiskalnoj politici da djeluje ekspanzivno. Stvoreni su preduvjeti za oporavak gospodarstava, ali produljenje trenutne monetarne politike bi moglo stvoriti određene rizike i neravnoteže unutar gospodarstava.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the impact of COVID-19 crisis on economies of EU and USA and to evaluate efficiency of ECBʼs and FEDʼs monetary policy during current COVID- 19 crisis. The pandemic effects on economies are observed in terms of macroeconomic and financial indicators like GDP growth rate, unemployment rate, fiscal deficit, public debt and movement of stock markets. Certain activites of ECB and FED in stimulating recovery are mentioned in further elaboration. Based on analysis of available data, conclusion is that ECB and FED in short run corrected market irregularities caused by pandemic shock and helped fiscal policy to act expansionary. Preconditions for recovery of economy are set up, but extension of current monetary policy could create certain risks and imbalances in economies.
