Leading people in the company is one of the main tasks of managers and entrepreneurs to ensure the execution of organizational goals and achieve success. In every organization leadership is part of strategy and part of success, and many companies see leadership as a source of competitive advantage and therefore invest in its development. The focus of this thesis is on leadership in micro-enterprises, which due to their characteristic size and other prominent features approach leadership in a specific way. Leadership in micro-enterprises is influenced by a number of factors that leaders are often unable to influence, which is why leadership in a micro-enterprise requires a broad framework of knowledge and experience to achieve optimal employee performance that will contribute to organizational profitability. One of the main goals of the thesis is to point out the specifics of leadership in micro-enterprise, and in addition to that, the paper is aimed at defining and clarifying the concepts of leadership and leading, characteristics of leaders and leadership styles, as well as defining entrepreneurship and determining the role and characteristics of micro-enterprises. This thesis includes an empirical research on the specifics of leadership in micro organizations, which was conducted using a survey questionnaire on a sample of 30 respondents. The main goal of the research was to determine the significance in leadership approaches among different micro-entrepreneurs working in Croatia, ie to determine how leadership in micro-enterprises differs from leadership in larger organizations. The results of the research showed that there are certain similarities in the behavior, attitudes and leadership style of successful micro-entrepreneurs, but also that leadership alone can be a challenge for micro-entrepreneurs due to the large amount of work and high levels of responsibility and risk.
