Blockchain is a new technology that is used to securely execute transactions, store data and values. A blockchain record can contain all the digital information that is stored in a block with other records and then embedded in a sequential chain with other blocks. In other words, the blockchain is a digital book of all historical records. There are numerous opportunities as well as challenges that blockchain technology presents to the auditing profession. Technology is unconventional, unlike previous methods of bookkeeping, auditors themselves are expected to take into account all the opportunities that blockchain creates, and to be guided by knowledge of new risks posed by technology and to plan audit in accordance with the company's business. Opportunities provided by blockchain technology, such as keeping a single book of transactions, the "impossibility" of entering fraudulent transactions, the efficiency of confirming the transaction reduce audit risk, but only if these assumptions are tested. Analyzing the trends in the implementation of blockchain technology, it is possible to conclude that the technology increases efficiency and transparency in some industries. Although, currently the area of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies is insufficiently regulated and some laws apply only to certain areas of the world, regardless of the classification of cryptocurrency, full regulation of cryptocurrency trading is expected in the future.
