Abstract
Kriptovalute pojavile su se kao alternativa tradicionalnom financijskom sustavu 2008. godine. Većina investitora bila je skeptična u ranoj fazi nastanka kriptovaluta i predviđali su brzi raspad tog tržišta. Međutim, u narednih 14 godina, kriptovalute su došle do vrijednosti od gotovo 2 trilijuna dolara tržišne kapitalizacije. Iako su kriptovalute od svog nastanka porušile sve rekorde u smislu financijske imovine, do njihove potpune implementacije u društvu trebati će još nekoliko godina. Najznačajnija i najpoznatija kriptovaluta je bitcoin. Bitcoin se kolokvijalno naziva digitalno zlato te se previđa da će uskoro biti glavno sredstvo očuvanja vrijednosti. Tehnologija pomoću koje funkcioniraju kriptovalute naziva se blockchain. Blockchain tehnologija ima niz prednosti korištenja te se u budućnosti predviđa njezina implementacija u raznim industrijama. Danas ne postoje službeni propisi i smjernice računovodstvenog odnosno poreznog tretmana kriptovaluta. Međutim, postoji prevladavajuće mišljenje struke po kojemu se evidentiraju transakcije kriptovaluta.
Abstract (english)
Cryptocurrencies appeared as an alternative to the traditional financial system in 2008. Most investors were skeptical in the early stages of the emergence of cryptocurrencies and predicted a rapid breakup of that market. Over the next 14 years, however, cryptocurrencies reached a figure of nearly $2 trillion in market capitalization. Although cryptocurrencies have broken all records since their creation, in terms of financial assets, it will take several more years to fully implement them in society. The most significant and famous cryptocurrency is called bitcoin. Bitcoin is colloquially referred to as digital gold and is overlooked to be the main means of preserving value in the future. The technology with which cryptocurrencies work is called blockchain. Blockchain technology has a number of advantages of use and in the future it is foreseen to be implemented in various industries. Today, there are no official regulations and guidelines for the accounting or tax treatment of cryptocurrencies. However, there is a prevailing opinion of the profession by which cryptocurrency transactions are recorded.
