Globalization is a growing interdependence of world economies, cultures and populations, caused by cross-border trade in goods and services, technology and investment flows, people and information. Maritime affairs has been one of the most important human activities over the centuries and one of the drivers of globalization. Few countries today are not part of the global maritime network, which makes many goods easily accessible. To make this possible, seaports connect the mainland and more to ensure the transport of goods. Seaports are important for the development of the region in which they are located. Maritime transport is the main driver and link of globalization, and it is also the branch that adapts the most to the conditions and trends of globalization, so seaports must adapt to ensure their survival, which requires constant investment and monitoring of global trends that are increasingly prone to turmoil. climate, insecurities such as shortages and wars, and regulation and the influence of powerful corporations. The aim of this paper is to investigate the development of seaports in the context of globalization with an analysis of the future development of global maritime transport and seaports, which can help in the future development of the strategy of seaports in Croatia.
