Abstract
Vrhovne revizijske institucije su najviše revizijske institucije u državi. One pomažu vladama u održavanju odgovornosti i transparentnosti javnog sektora u trošenju državnog novca. Kako su i same dio javnog sektora, bitno je voditi brigu i o transparentnosti njihovog rada. Time su uvedeni zakoni koji obvezuju vrhovne revizijske institucije za podnošenje njihovih godišnjih izvješća o radu i objavljivanja financijskih izvještaja koji podliježu vanjskoj reviziji kao jedan od načina praćenja njihova rada. Rad prikazuje načine praćenja rada vrhovnih revizijskih institucija Republike Hrvatske, Sjedinjenih Američkih Država i Australije, te je cilj prikazati sličnosti i razlike revizije financijskih izvještaja promatranih institucija kao jednog od načina praćenja njihovog rada. U izradi rada korišteni su sekundarni podaci prikupljeni prvenstveno iz stručne literature iz područja revizije u obliku knjiga, standarda i članaka te izvješća vrhovnih revizijskih institucija. Kao metode istraživanja korištene su metoda deskripcije i metoda analize. Komparativnom analizom su analizirani izvještaji neovisnih revizora koji su proveli financijske revizije navedenih institucija.
Abstract (english)
Supreme audit institutions are the highest audit institutions in the country. They help governments maintain accountability and transparency of the public sector in spending state money. As they themselves are part of the public sector, it is important to take care of the transparency of their work. This introduced laws that oblige supreme audit institutions to submit their annual work reports and publish financial statements that are subject to external audit as one of the ways of monitoring their work. The paper shows the ways of monitoring the work of the supreme audit institutions of the Republic of Croatia, the United States of America and Australia, and its goal is to show the similarities and differences of the audit of the financial statements of the observed institutions as one of the ways of monitoring their work. Secondary data collected primarily from professional literature in the field of auditing in the form of books, standards and articles and reports of supreme audit institutions were used in the preparation of the paper. The method of description and the method of analysis are used as research methods. The reports of independent auditors who conducted financial audits of the mentioned institutions were analyzed through comparative analysis.
