The basic strength of the organization are people. Nowadays, the key to the success of an organization lies precisely in the way companies select and organize people and their employees. Human resource management, as a scientific discipline, plays a very important role in companies as a basis for achieving a competitive advantage with the help of people. Precisely, because of this, companies have increased their interest in the human resource department, which is of vital interest for successful operations and a good business climate. This graduation thesis explains the specifics of human resource management in retail. The retail industry as a vital commercial sector is a very complex area with many functions. Since retail is a very complex part of the supply chain system, human resource management has become necessary for retail organizations over time. By planning and acquiring quality, professional and capable workers, certain retail organizations are ahead of their competitors. This graduation thesis explains how retail managers and human resource departments deal with people-related challenges they face as a part of their work. Empirical research was conducted on the specifics of human resource management in retail. The results of the research suggest that it is very challenging to manage people in retail organizations and that it is quite challenging for managers in human resource departments to optimize the interest of the individual and the entire organization, while being guided by the company's vision and mission.
