Karakteriziraju ga poremećaji pokreta i položaja uzrokovani progresivnim oštećenjem nezrelog mozga.
Abstract (english) Cerebral palsy (CP) is a clinical entity that includes a group of non-progressive but variable motor disorders that are caused by brain damage at an early stage of development or disorders in brain development. It is characterized by movement and position disorders caused by progressive damage to the immature brain. Damage most often affects motor function, musculoskeletal and cognitive development, and other health problems may also occur. It is important to mention that in addition to the medical difficulties it causes, psychological and social difficulties are also often present. The diagnosis of cerebral palsy is made in children with slow motor development, and is confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Rehabilitation is aimed at reducing the possible development of additional difficulties and encouraging the acquisition of new skills. Cerebral palsy requires an interdisciplinary approach, and it is based on an individual approach.
The ability of artistic expression is innate, children do not learn this ability, but it develops spontaneously, and it represents the basis for the development of visual, and later, artistic thinking. Mental activities such as emotions, intellectual and motor skills have an important influence on the artistic expression of an individual. On the other hand, artistic thinking is not a natural aspect, but a historical-social one that differs from natural forms of thinking in many ways. Emotions play a big role both in the life of all people and in communication with others, because in this way others get information about the inner state of individuals and how they should behave. Almost all researchers claim that emotions are innate, which arose through evolution, have specific universal movements, facial expressions and a characteristic subjective experience.
The aim of this thesis is to describe how art affects emotional expression in people with cerebral palsy. Artistic expression enables the opening of the door to the inner world and the discovery of creativity, provides opportunities to discover and recognize emotions, and in some situations to alleviate emotional discomfort in this way. Orienting people with cerebral palsy towards self-perception, recognition and interpretation of emotions and developing awareness of the importance of their expression, understanding the reasons for their occurrence and effects with the aim of developing emotional self-control and regulation through artistic expression, is the basis of the research in this review paper.
