Abstract
Prema Dijagnostičkom i statističkom priručniku za duševne poremećaje, DSM-5 (Američka psihijatrijska udruga, 2014) diskalkulija je alternativni naziv za specifični poremećaj učenja s oštećenjem u matematici te pripada u neurorazvojne poremećaje. O diskalkuliji se najviše govori u kontekstu djece školske dobi, no diskalkulija ostaje prisutna i nakon završetka formalnog obrazovanja te utječe na obavljanje svakodnevnih aktivnosti pojedinca. Prisutni su deficiti u određivanju i percepciji količine, automatskom određivanju veličine broja, dohvaćanju aritmetičkih činjenica i razumijevanju matematičkih koncepata, procjeni vremena i percepciji duljine i konceptualnoj obradi veličine. Glavni je cilj ovog rada pružiti sažeti pregled dosadašnjih spoznaja o diskalkuliji kod odraslih kroz znanstvene činjenice sa svrhom pridonošenja razumijevanju fenomena s pozicije logopedske struke upozoravajući time na važnost pravovremene dijagnostike i činjenicu da poremećaj snažno obilježava život osobe zbog svakodnevne potrebe za primjenom matematike u odrasloj dobi.
Abstract (english)
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM-5 (American Psychiatric Association, 2014), dyscalculia is an alternative name for a specific learning disorder with impairment in mathematics and belongs to neurodevelopmental disorders. Dyscalculia is mostly discussed in the context of school-aged children, but dyscalculia remains present even after the end of formal education and affects the performance of the individual's daily activities. Different deficits are present in some areas such as: determination and perception of quantity, automatic activation of number magnitude, arithmetical facts retrieval and arithmetical conceptual understanding, time and length processing, conceptual size processing and attention. The main goal of this work is to provide a concise overview of current knowledge about dyscalculia in adults through scientific facts with the purpose of contributing to the understanding of the phenomenon from the position of the speech therapy profession, thereby warning of the importance of prompt diagnosis and the fact that the disorder strongly marks a person's life due to the daily mathematic requests in adulthood.
