Abstract (english) ADHD in women is an insufficiently researched but important field. In general, research is deficient about the manifestation of ADHD in adulthood and most of the existing ones are focused on men with ADHD because of the traditional belief that the prevalence of ADHD is greater in men, but most new research showed that the prevalence among genders is the same. Therefore, the main goal of this study is to present the unique experience of adult women with ADHD in the area of getting a diagnosis and realized support and everyday functioning with special emphasis on daily functioning, parenting, and interpersonal relationships. The study involved 5 adult women diagnosed with ADHD and was conducted during a one month period in June and July 2023. The research was conducted in the form of a semi-structured interview. Each interview was recorded for transcription purposes. Afterward, the transcripts were subjected to qualitative data analysis. The research has shown that women with ADHD face many challenges in everyday functioning in private life, professional life, schooling, and interpersonal relationships. Most difficulties in daily functioning and parenting are caused by difficulties with motivation, memory, and routine organization. Difficulties in interpersonal relationships are primarily caused by emotional difficulties which affect love relationships the most. Furthermore, the research has shown that hormonal changes like menopause, pregnancy, and puberty lead to an increase in ADHD symptoms. All participants received a diagnosis in adulthood by conducting their own efforts and research.
