Mnoge zemlje donose zakone i politike s ciljem poticanja zapošljavanja osoba s invaliditetom, no unatoč tim naporima i dalje postoje brojne prepreke koje ometaju njihovo uključivanje u radnu snagu.
Abstract (english) Individuals with disabilities encounter various challenges within the job market, and among them, those with visual impairments pose a particularly demanding group. Many countries enact laws and policies to encourage the employment of disabled individuals, but despite these efforts, there continue to be numerous obstacles that hinder their integration into the workforce. Prejudices and employers' attitudes, environmental inaccessibility, and a shortage of adapted workspaces are just a few of the issues. In the Republic of Croatia, one noteworthy form of employment for disabled individuals under special conditions is the model of inclusive workshops. However, existing literature lacks insights into the motivations of employers for establishing such workshops. Thus, the primary goal of this study was to comprehend the structural factors that motivate employers to open inclusive workshops. Furthermore, considering that research has shown that employers are less inclined to hire visually impaired individuals compared to others with disabilities, the second aim of this study was to determine the factors that contribute to employers' motivation to employ visually impaired individuals within their inclusive workshops. This study involved 15 employers from inclusive workshops, all listed with the Institute for expert evaluation, vocational rehabilitation, and employment of people with disabilities. For the study's purposes, a new questionnaire called “Employer motivation in the context of inclusive workshops” was developed. This questionnaire was designed to explore employers' motivation for establishing inclusive workshops and their motivation for hiring visually impaired individuals within these workshops. The collected data underwent analysis using the SPSS 23.0 software, utilizing appropriate statistical methodologies. The study's results indicate that employers are primarily motivated by economic factors when it comes to opening inclusive workshops, surpassing social and intrinsic factors. Furthermore, the research demonstrates that employers highly value hard skills and prior work experience when considering hiring visually impaired individuals in inclusive workshops. These findings underscore the importance of state-provided financial support and subsidies to encourage the establishment of inclusive workshops. Additionally, to enhance the competitiveness of visually impaired individuals in the job market compared to the broader population of people with disabilities, investment in education, assistive technology training, and the cultivation of practical experience are essential.
