Abstract Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je ispitati odnos dnevnih varijacija u dinamici korištenja društvenih mreža te ugodnih i neugodnih afekata na uzorku studenata Edukacijsko - rehabilitacijskog fakulteta u Zagrebu. Specifični ciljevi ovog rada su utvrditi dnevne varijacije u dinamici ugodnih i neugodnih afekata te u dinamici korištenja društvenih mreža tijekom razdoblja od 8 dana mjerenja te eventualnu povezanost prosječnog korištenja društvenih mreža te ugodnih i neugodnih afekata u svakodnevnom životu studenata. Ovaj je rad izrađen u okviru projekta “Testiranje 5C modela pozitivnog razvoja mladih: tradicionalno i digitalno mobilno mjerenje (P.R.O.T.E.C.T.) financiranog sredstvima uspostavne potpore Hrvatske zaklade za znanost čiji je nositelj Edukacijsko - rehabilitacijski fakultet.
Pilot istraživanje provodilo se tijekom veljače i ožujka 2022. godine u razdoblju od osam dana na prigodnom uzorku od 32 studenata preddiplomskog studija Logopedije i Edukacijske-rehabilitacije. Studenti su jednom dnevno putem EARS (Effortless Assesment of Risk States) mobilne aplikacije izvještavali o ugodnim (samopouzdano, pštimistično i sretno) i neugodnim (umorno, pod stresom, ne mogu se koncentrirati, zabrinuto i posramljeno) afektima, a pasivnim mobilnim mjerenjem su se prikupljali podaci o vremenu provedenom na društvenim mrežama. Za mjerenje afekata koristila se prilagođena PANAS skala (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule) (Craford i Henry, 2004).
Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su značajne varijacije među sudionicima i unutar svakog sudionika. Dnevne varijacije ugodnog i neugodnog afekta na cijelom uzorku su relativno niske (SDUA=0.06, SDNA=0.08) u odnosu na svakog pojedinca zasebno. Vrijednosti standardne devijacije se značajno razlikuju među sudionicima te variraju između 0.13 i 1.13 za ugodan afekt te 0.23 i 0.89 za neugodan afekt. Kada se promatrao svaki afekt zasebno varijacije su bile još izraženije gdje je maksimalna vrijednost standardne devijacije za Samopouzdanje SD=1.47, Optimizam SD=1.21, Sreću SD=1.1, Umorno SD=1.73, Pod stresom SD=1.17, Ne mogu se koncentrirati SD=1.72, Zabrinuto SD=1.64 i Posramljeno SD=1.22. Isti trend se uočava i kod vremena provedenih na društvenim mrežama. Na razini cijelog uzorka vrijeme provedeno na društvenim mrežama je bilo relativno stabilno s manjim varijacijama (SD=20.13), dok se promatranjem svakog sudionika posebno primjećuju značajnije razlike (SD je varirala od 15.74 do 186.83). U pilot istraživanju nisu pronađene statistički značajne povezanosti između rezultata na dimenziji prosječnog vremena provedenog na pojedinačnim društvenim mrežama i ugodnog i neugodnog afekta studenata (p > 0.05). Rezultati su raspravljeni u kontekstu dosadašnjih istraživanja te potencijalnih implikacija za buduća znanstvena istraživanja i praktičnu primjenu.
Abstract (english) The main aim of this study is to gain insight into the daily dynamics of using social media and positive and negative affects among students from the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences in Zagreb. Specific aims are to determine daily variations in positive and negative affects and social media usage during an eight-day measuring period and possible correlations between average social media use and positive and negative affects in students’ everyday lives. This thesis was written within the project “Testing the 5C model of positive youth development: traditional and digital mobile measurement (P.R.O.T.E.C.T.) funded by the founding support of the Croatian Science Foundation, implemented by the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences.
The pilot study was conducted during February and March 2022. during an eight-day period with a convenient sample including 32 undergraduate students of Rehabilitation and Speech and Language Pathology. Using EARS (Effortless Assesment of Risk States) mobile sensing application students reported once a day about their positive (confident, optimistic and happy) and negative (tired, stressed, distracted, worried and ashamed) affects. Time spent using social media was collected with passive mobile sensing. An adjusted version of the PANAS scale (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule) (Craford i Henry, 2004) was used for measuring affect.
Study results showed significant between-person and within-person variations. Daily variations of positive and negative affect were relatively small (SDPA=0.06, SDNA=0.08) in comparison with within-person variations. Standard deviation varied between students ranging from 0.13 to 1.13 for positive affect, and 0.23 to 0.89 for negative affect. When observing each affect separately the variations were even higher with standard deviations maximum scores being Confident SD=1.47, Optimistic SD=1.21, Happy SD=1.1, Tired SD=1.73, Stressed SD=1.47, Distracted SD=1.72, Worried SD=1.64 and Ashamed SD=1.22. The same trend was found with social media usage. While the results for the whole sample showed minimal variations (SD=20.13), social media usage for every study participant had higher differences (SD varied from 15.74 to 186.33). In this pilot study, no statistically significant correlations were found between the average time spent on social media and students’ positive and negative affect. The results are discussed in the context of existing research and their implications for future scientific research and practical application.
