Malignant diseases pose not only a challenge to the individual suffering but also to their family members. The impact of malignant diseases on the family can be deep and complex. Families face emotional stress, financial burdens, changes in daily life, and sometimes challenges in communication and mutual support. Roles within the family may change, and relationship dynamics may be disrupted. However, the family can be a source of immense support and strength for the patient, providing them with emotional support, assistance, and love. Therefore, it is important to recognize the impact of malignant diseases on the family and provide them with appropriate professional support. The aim of this thesis is to gain insight into the impact of malignant diseases on the family when a family member falls ill. This thesis will present a qualitative research study. Participants in the study will be individuals whose mother has suffered from and survived a malignant disease. The research questions will be related to how the individuals cope with their mother's malignant disease, the impact of the malignant disease on family relationships, and the fear of possible recurrence of the disease. The field of educational rehabilitation, in interdisciplinary collaboration with other professionals, should focus on a holistic approach. Therefore, further research in this area is warranted to provide new perspectives that contribute to understanding and providing adequate support.
