Abstract
Termin 'geografsko profiliranje' označava kriminalističku istražnu metodu koja analizira lokacije povezanih serija zločina kako bi se utvrdilo najvjerojatnije prebivalište počinitelja. Svrha geografskog profiliranja je pružanje pomoći istražiteljima u obradi informacija pri prioritiziranju osumnjičenih počinitelja. Glavni cilj je otkriti postojeću vezu između mjesta počinjena kaznenog djela i počinitelja, u svrhu identifikacije počinitelja i pronalaženja najvjerojatnijeg mjesta prebivališta. Iako se geografsko profiliranje smatra novijom istražnom metodom, pokazuje visoku stupu efikasnosti te kao takva postaje sve važnijim alatom u borbi s kriminalitetom. Ovim radom, nastojat će se pomnije objasniti pojam geografskog profiliranja zajedno s njegovim glavnim aspektima. Naglasak u radu, stavit će se na brojne mogućnosti uporabe geografskog profiliranja u prevenciji kriminaliteta na određenom području kroz pregled relevantnih istraživanja. Također, pružit će se uvid u presjek teorija na kojima geografsko profiliranje počiva, objasnit će se ključna terminologija vezana uz navedenu metodu, opisati proces izrađivanja geoprofila te kritički razmotriti potencijalna ograničenja i izazovi vezani ovu metodologiju.
Abstract (english)
The term 'geographic profiling' refers to a criminal investigative method that analyzes locations of related crime series to determine the most likely residence of the perpetrator. The purpose of geographic profiling is to assist investigators in processing information when prioritizing suspected offenders. The main goal is to uncover the existing link between the crime scene and the perpetrator, in order to identify the offender and find the most probable place of residence. Although geographic profiling is considered a newer investigative method, it shows a high degree of efficiency and as such is becoming an increasingly important tool in combating crime. This paper will attempt to explain in more detail the concept of geographic profiling along with its main aspects. The emphasis of the paper will be on the numerous possibilities of using geographic profiling in crime prevention in a specific area through a review of relevant research. Additionally, it will provide insight into the intersection of theories on which geographic profiling is based, explain key terminology related to this method, describe the process of creating geoprofiles, and critically consider potential limitations and challenges related to this methodology.
