Auditory processing disorder (APD) is a deficit of neural processing of auditory stimuli that is not due to higher order language, cognitive, or related factors. Yet, it could coexist with difficulties of the same. Because of the comorbidity of APD with other difficulties, such as learning difficulties, ADHD, language impairments, etc. assessment and diagnostics of the APD should be comprehensive and made by a multidisciplinary team (speech-language pathologist, audiologist, pishologist, teacher). It is estimated that 2 to 5% of the children's population have a hearing impairment, so the aim of this study is to verify the prevalence of the APD in older kindergarten children (CA 5;06 – 6;06), and to check if there are statistically significant differences between boys and girls in auditory processing using the Battery Test for auditory processing disorders (TEST PSP-1, Hedjever, 2017). The results of the research have shown that the prevalence of hearing disorders in older kindergarten children is 2.28%, which is in line with data from previous foreign studies. Furthermore, there is no statistically significant difference between boys and girls in hearing treatment (p> 0.05), but there is a statistically significant difference between boys and girls in chronological age (p=0.01, p <0.05). Evaluation of auditory processing skills in older kindergarten children is important because of early detection of risky children for auditory processing disorder, and appropriate intervention.
