Each sound phenomenon that interferes with work or rest is noise. Noise is a physical hazard so ubiquitous that its sudden absence can be unsettling. Our hearing perception evolved in a quieter era. Nowdays, the noise is an undesirable effect and can be simply defined as any unwanted or unpleasant sound that we hear. Noise can affect different aspects of life. Affects on human health, but also on everyday communication. The noise in speech communication affects understanding of the speaker's message and difficulty coping with communication. Noise in the workplace is a major problem today. Noise protection is carried out in various ways. The purpose of this study was to measure the level of noise in the speech therapy cabinets in three types of institutions where speech therapists work: kindergartens, primary schools and the clinic for rehabilitation of hearing speech. According to the regulations on maximum permissible noise levels in areas where people work and live (NN 145/04) in speech therapy cabinets maximum allowable noise level should be 35dB. The study included 13 institutions (4 kindergartens, 5 schools and 5 cabinet in the polyclinic SUVAG Karlovac). For the study it's used device Manual Sound level meter PCE - 353. The results showed that in most speech Cabinet noise exceeds the permitted level. The worst results, and the highest level of noise present in the schools, and the lowest in the clinic. All these data call into question the adequacy of the conditions in which they are carried out speech therapy.
