The aim of this diploma thesis is related to giving support and empowerment to a family with a child who demonstrated mild developmental delays in the early developmental period. Delays from typical development have negative impacts on the child-parent interaction model since they represent additional stressors for parents who then experience long-term effects of trauma, which is reflected on family dynamics and child's behaviour. In accordance with the main goal specific goals were set. They are reflected in the research questions through the impact of the conducted programme on the child; the mother's perception of the child's functioning and her own functioning in her interactions with the child; the mother's perception of stress and its influence on the child and the mother's perception of her ownempowerment and family empowerment. The goals were achieved by individualised developmental, educational-rehabilitating and therapeutic procedures for the child. They were pursued by carefully chosen family support strategies in order to empower the family and reduce the effect of stressful situations on the child. The mother and her baby daughter took part in the research. The research programme was conducted in the family from April 2017 till June 2018, that is from the child's 3 to 16 months of age, once a month for 90 minutes. Quantitative and qualitative research methodology was used for obtaining and analysing the data. The data were obtained by the following research instruments: Munich functional developmental diagnostics for ages 1-3; Parental stress index questionnaire and Evaluation questionnaire Educationalrehabilitating programme from the infant mother's perspective. The results of the initial and final assessment of Munich functional developmental diagnostics for ages 1-3 and Parental stress index and mother's reply to the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the research were used to evaluate the success of the conducted programme. In accordance with expectations, the implementation of the early developmental integration programme had positive developmental outcome for the child, which subsequently resulted in lowering mother's stress level. The implemented programme was positively evaluated by the mother in the Evaluation questionnaire.Beneficial effects of the programme on the whole family were observed. Such expectations are parralel with positive results obtained in numerous researches on using early intervention programmes with babies experiencing mild developmental delays.
