Braille textbooks are one the way to be a quality and complete resource for the education of visual impairment students. In Latin, or in any other writing system printed Textbooks, need to get translated and adapted to the Braille system. Important factors in this process are the experts dealing with the translation and adaptation. The process required to get a high quality translated Braille textbook, is quiet complex and makes certain knowledge and expertise necessary. The aim of this research is to examine the attitudes of experts working in the adaptation of in other system written textbooks, into the Braille’s letter system, and also about their competences, as well as their requisite skill. It also examines how experts can acquire these competences. The assessment of competences has been tested with regard to the years of work experience in adapting Braille's textbooks, the number of adapted Braille textbooks in one school year and the most commonly adapted material. The survey was conducted on a sample of 16 respondents in 5 different institutions in the Republic of Croatia, and the results of the research were obtained by processing data using descriptive statistics in the SPSS program and by robust discriminatory data analysis. The results of the research confirmed the hypotheses set out in this research, and opened up the possibility of new research in areas of competence of experts in Braille's textbook adaptation as well as methods of acquiring and furthering those same competences.
