Abstract Moći pomoći i pružiti podršku drugoj osobi iznimno obogaćuje život pojedinca. Pomagačke profesije usmjerene su upravo na profesionalno pomaganje ljudima u rješavanju raznih poteškoća s kojima se susreću, a karakterizira ih izravan kontakt između stručnjaka i pojedinca kojem je pomoć potrebna. No, osim što donosi svoje pozitivne strane, sve veći broj istraž ivanja ukazuje na negativne strane rada koje stručnjaci pomagačkih profesija moraju snositi. Temeljni cilj ovog diplomskog rada je dati uvid u područja rada profesionalnih pomagača, s posebnim naglaskom na edukacijsko-rehabilitacijsko područje te dati pregled izazova i (negativnih) posljedica rada s kojima se ovi stručnjaci svakodnevno susreću, od kojih je sindrom sagorijevanja na radu zasigurno jedna od najnepovoljnijih. S obzirom na to da se radi o relativno zanemarenoj, ali izuzetno važnoj temi, namjera ovog rada je pruž iti pregled literature vezane uz područje profesionalnog stresa i sindroma sagorijevanja na radu kod edukacijskih rehabilitatora. Tema ovog diplomskog rada razrađena je na nekoliko temeljnih tematskih područja. U prvom dijelu definiraju se pomagačke profesije, specifičnosti njihova područja rada te uloge i izazovi s kojima se profesionalni pomagači susreću. U kontekstu pomagačkih profesija pobliže se opisuje edukacijsko-rehabilitacijska djelatnost. U drugom dijelu rada obrađuje se tema stresa i profesionalnog stresa. U trećem, glavnom dijelu rada razrađuje se tema sindroma sagorijevanja na radu (burnout sindroma) kao jedne od najnepovoljnijih posljedica doživljavanja dugotrajnog i intenzivnog stresa na radnom mjestu Pored prikazanih definicija, determinanti i procesa sindroma sagorijevanja, opisani su i njegovi najčešći uzroci i ozbiljne posljedice koje pogađaju zdravstveno stanje, psihološko i socijalno funkcioniranje pojedinca, a utječu i na njegovu cjelokupnu okolinu. Pritom je naglasak stavljen na izvore takvog oblika stresa kod edukacijskih rehabilitatora te je u svezi s tim dan pregled dosadašnjih istraživanja povezanih s mjerenjem sindroma sagorijevanja kod ovih stručnjaka. Unatoč poznatim negativnim ishodima profesionalnog stresa, malo toga se zapravo radi na njegovoj prevenciji, a uobičajeni oblici profesionalne pomoći stručnjacima često izostaju te nisu u dovoljnoj mjeri dostupni i poznati stručnjacima. S obzirom na to, u četvrtom dijelu rada govori se o metodama prevencije profesionalnog stresa i sindroma sagorijevanja na radu te su prikazane najučestalije strategije suočavanja s njim. U posljednjem dijelu rada, kao dopuna teoretskom dijelu, prikazano je kvalitativno istraživanje provedeno kroz polustrukturirani intervju s edukacijskim rehabilitatorom iz čijeg osobnog iskustva profesionalnog stresa dobivamo uvid u njegov tijek, kao i prijedloge smjerova u kojima bi trebalo razvijati programe podrške i prevencije profesionalnog stresa na našim područjima.
Abstract (english) Being able to help and provide support to another person greatly enriches the life of an individual. Helping professions are defined as those professions aimed at professionally assisting (helping) people with various difficulties they face. They are characterized by direct contact between the helping expert and the individual (client) who needs support or help. But, besides bringing its positive side, an increasing number of research points out the negative side of work that professional helpers have to bear. The basic aim of this review is to provide an insight into the work areas of helping professions, focusing on the educational rehabilitation, and to give an overview of the challenges and (negative) consequences of the work that these experts encounter on a daily basis, of which the burnout syndrome is among the heaviest. Given the fact that this is a relatively neglected, but extremely important subject, the purpose of this paper is to provide a review of literature related to job stress (occupational stress) and burnout syndrome among educational. The topic of this paper is elaborated on several fundamental parts. The first part of the paper defines helping professions and specifics of this field of work, as well as challenges that professional helpers encounter. In this context, the educational rehabilitation is described more closely. The second part deals with the topic of stress and job stress. The third and also the main part of the paper deals with the issue of burnout syndrome as one of the most negative consequences of experiencing long-term and intense stress at the workplace. In addition to the presented definitions, determinants and course of burnout syndrome, this part describes its most common causes and consequences which affect the physical, psychological and social functioning of the individual. The focus was placed on the job stress and burnout syndrome among educational rehabilitators with the review of previous research related to this topic. Despite the well-known negative outcomes of the job stress, little is actually done on its prevention. Likewise, professional assistance programs are often disregarded and not as accessible as they should be. Bearing that in mind, the subject of the fourth part of the paper deals with methods of prevention as well as the most common coping strategies for job stress and burnout syndrome. As an addition to the theoretical frame, the last part of the paper presents a qualitative research that was conducted through a semi-structured interview with an educational rehabilitator from whose personal experience of job stress we gain an insight into its course as well as suggestions of directions in which prevention methods and professional assistance programs should be developed.
