obuhvaća i kriminologiju i penologiju.
Abstract (english) | Nowadays, one of the biggest problems of modern society, involving Croatian one, includes
alcoholism and excessive consummation of the same. Except in the context of public healthcare,
alcoholism appears among many other spheres of both, public and private life, which also includes
criminology and penology. Hence, it can be applied, in particular, on those treatments that are being
carried out in correctional facilities with both, people who committed crimes under the impact of
alcohol but, also, among perpetrators who had symptoms of addiction or alcohol abuse. The main
goal of this paper is to gain insight into current knowledge of existing treatment programs including
alcoholism in correctional surrounding (involving all spheres of serving a legally imposed
sanction). In order to achieve the goal of the paper, two research questions were asked: 1) what are
the features and characteristics of existing alcohol treatment programs implemented in a
correctional setting and 2) how effective the programs implemented are. In this paper, the method
of systematic reviews, more precisely PRISMA model, which is often used in review papers, is
chosen to deal with the topic. Moreover, the time frame of this paper is the period from the year
2000 until 2020. It is considered that the characteristics of the analyzed programs will be similar,
given that the goal of the programs themselves is the same (establishment and maintenance of
abstinence). However, by working on the main goal of the alcohol treatment program, other
biopsychosocial aspects of an individual’s life are also touched upon, and it is thought that there
will be a difference between the programs. Considering the second research question, how effective
the programs are, the assumption is that the programs implemented are effective to a certain extent.
In other words, that the programs have a positive impact on a certain number of participants. Also,
it is the assumption that a combinations of treatments and differentiated programs have the best
effects. |
